Trying to be you!

This Sunday we had our first internal meeting. We all needed to meet each other because I, as a founder, only had met the team members individually, so as you can guess, I was excited on how things would turn out. Would the team hate each other, or did I put together the right kind of people, that was able to respect and acknowledge their personal contribution to the process, product, and company?

I expected the Sunday meeting to take an hour or 2, but we spend almost 5 hours debating everything from finance, marketing and to version 1.2.

Talking about development for a product, that isn’t ready in version 1.0, is a bit weird, mainly because we need to put our minds into your place, as a SoMe Manager.

What can we do to make the SoMeCentral product even better, and how can we add even more value to our product, so you will love to use the tool in your SoMe job.

We had some wild and crazy ideas, but we also need to put into consideration, that we will get your feedback, as soon as you can use the version 1.0 product in your organization.

The result of the Sunday meeting is that we already know where to go with version 1.2 for now…..but we are also excited to get the feedback from you on the version 1.0. You might think what about 1.1 you forgot to mention that Jan, but I haven’t forgotten about 1.1. SoMeCentral is released in English only, but version 1.1 will be a multilanguage update, without functional upgrades.

We know the most of you SoMe people can write and read English, but this is not always the case for your APP users/Co-workers. They will be from all parts of your organization, and we do not expect everyone to be able to read English. Version 1.1 will support English, German, French, Spanish and Portugues. Eventually we will support other languages, but for now, this is what we will do, and what you can expect from version 1.1.

On the picture, taken this Sunday outside our office, you see Henrik (our CFO) Christian (our CTO) Alexina (our CMO) and me, all doped up on Coffe, Coca-cola, and Pastry.

I am thrilled to have found a diverse team that respects each other, and that bring humor and skills into the SoMeCentral company. It is a tuff job to create an entirely new business and groundbreaking product, but it MUST also be fun….here we have a team that smiles a lot, and that makes everything easier, even when the going gets tough, so I am a happy Founder.

Back on the track, working hard

Soon we will be able to eliminate some of the challenges you have in your job as a CMO or SoMe Manager, and it is exciting for us to help you with this problem.

If you have been following my postings, you know that a short while ago, we did have a setback. The external CTO did not have the skills to develop version 1.0 of the SoMeCentral APP and Back-end system, so he had to leave the SoMeCentral project. We lost some time, but only a limited amount of our funds.

I found a new coding partner
Yesterday I did decide on a new external coding partner for the version 1.0, and when I am writing this, I have already made the initial payments to the external partner…happy days….

What to expect
First of all, I want to express my deepest gratitude for all the positive feedback I am getting from all of you on my network or in our face to face meetings. For me, all your positive energy is a big morale boost, and it makes the not so fun day’s worth while.

With the coding project back on track, I can turn to other things, like finding more investors, talk with potential CTO profiles and in general getting ready for the product launch by the end of this year.

50% discount
In a short while, I will make a pre-sign up discount. The first 100 companies will get a full year of using SoMeCentral with 50% discount. So! Stay tuned, and be ready to become one of the first 100 business users.

When things go sour!

The road ahead is paved with challenges

Creating a new product is one of the most demanding but also rewarding things I have ever done. I thrive on the positive feedback I get from partners and potential customers. On the other hand, when things are not going according to my plan, I am faced with sleepless nights, and a stressful feeling in my belly. The last two weeks have been a period of stress, as I was forced to find other and better coding partner.

I have had several meetings and e-mail and phone conversations with companies in Denmark, that can create the product I have a visioned. I expect that I can announce a new formal coding partner at some time next week, and are happy that we did not suffer too much financially by selecting a new code partner. We lost time, that’s is it….more or less.

Investors and a cartoon

One thing is clear to me; we need more capital to SoMeCentral. I will work on that task in the weeks to come. Next week I also expect our new SoMeCentral cartoon to be ready for you to watch. The desition to make a video came from the feedback I got from some of you on LinkedIn….and thank you for that…I cannot wait to see the final result, and I will use the cartoon towards potential customers as well as investors.

Two steps forward, one back

Today I have 5400 LinkedIn connections to share the SoMeCentral idea and soon to come product. It should have been a day of celebration for me. In some way it still is. I am humbled by the fact that so many people in communication, marketing, and especially social media marketing want to hook up with me, and I thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for this, as it is super important for me to get your feedback on the SoMeCentral product.

Sadly, it is also a where we must tell you guys, that we do not longer have a lead coder to develop the SoMeCentral product. Mathias, our external CTO, did pull the plug on the development of SoMeCentral.

So as of today, combined with my primary task to find investors, my job will be to locate the replacement for Mathias. And I know where to turn to, so happy days for that.

It also means that we will delay the launching of our APP and back-end system to all of you out there in the world. I am truly sorry for this delay, but I am confident that things will turn out for the better, resulting in a great APP for you to use in the future, so please be patient with the remaining team and me.

30 days back, before we launch SoMeCentral

How do you get hundreds of photos or videos a week for your SoMe channels like Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter or YouTube?

It sounds pretty boring…..Content Creation Automation/CCA. It seems like something that is done by a robot, and not involving people, but nothing is further from the truth. Content in the form of photos and videos are always created by people in your organization or company unless it is a CCTV recording.

People are the real world content creators because they think it is fun, or to document a situation, and there is no automation is this at all. The automation kicks in when it comes to sending photos and videos to the people that need the content for SoMe campaigns or websites. Here is the actual problem because we all forget to send the content to our colleges that need our authentic content, and this is where CCA will do the trick, and ensure that content is forwarded to the people in need, without interaction at all.

The value of many eyes and Smartphone users

Letting your entire workforce, or selected people and groups act as content creators, also enables you to get a much richer content flow, and not only when it comes to the increased volume of content. You will most likely also get content that you didn’t even think existed, and this will enable you as SoMe manager to target specific SoMe strategies more efficiently.

Why genuine content is of value

We all have been on the internet for years, and we know when a company or organization are using pre-made photos and videos, and at a subconscious level, we all know that this is not a real representation of the enterprise. This is also why pre-made content does not impact us in a greater way. It is the same thing with content made by professionals. The corporate image made by advertising agencies and their photographers are manipulated in any way possible to let us, the potential customers, have the best possible image of the organization. Customers tend to bypass this kind of postings, just like any other digital advertising.

Things are changing, as SoMe is getting more traction

Using SoMe channels to promote your company or organization, your service offerings or products is putting more focus on SoMe managers to create content and postings with value. Social media is selling without selling, and content must engage people in the way SoMe managers and their employers want, and often this is not done with professional content because we are savvy in spotting postings with the purpose to advertise, and we bypass them with ease.

The creation process is demanding, and time-consuming

If you by any chance are working in marketing or SoMe, you know how hard it can be to create the content on your own. Furthermore, you are not always able to be in the right spot, at the right time, and here a CCA tool can come in handy. By using a CCA tool, you can let everybody in your organization be content creators, without losing control, or useful media. By using a CCA tool, you can get access to a steady flow of authentic content, created by your colleges and co-workers. This content created by non-professionals will also be considered as authentic by your audience or customers, hence giving the postings more impact on your SoMe channels.

The positive side effect of using a CCA tool

If you are in charge of SoMe channels in your job, then you will experience a positive side effect of using a CCA tool. Gone are the days where you needed to do a photoshoot when you start to get a flow of visual content coming into your back-end system. You can now concentrate on making each posting as effective as possible, and you can most likely make even more great postings.

Contribution, not passion

The journey of starting up a completely new business is exciting but let us be honest, also hard and faced with a lot of challenges.

There are a lot of different issues that a Founder must face, solve or work around. This is not always as much fun as is might sound. If you have been there, you know what I am talking about.

Today I read a blog post with the headline ”DO NOT FOLLOW YOUR PASSION” and this made me think about SoMeCentral and the road ahead for all involved parties in the SoMeCentral start-up, but mainly for me as the Founder. I am passionate about the SoMeCentral product but SoMeCentral is not a personal passion for me.

The statement about not following your passion was made by the famous Ben Horowitz, and I think his point of view this is important. Ben Horowitz claims that it is more important to contribute than being passionate. This is where SoMeCentral is coming back into my mind. SoMeCentral is not a real passion for me, but…..and here it comes, my way of spotting a problem thousands of people in organizations and companies are having, and how my idea can help them to solve this. I have not yet met anyone working with Marketing or SoMe marketing, that did not have the problem SoMeCentral is solving. SoMeCentral is not a passionate born project, but just a product that will make life more easy and effective for people.

Helping Marketing, Human Resource, Sales, etc. with the SoMeCentral product is my contribution to you, not my passion.

Just before Easter, SoMeCentral and I were invited to a Springboard session with CONNECT Denmark.

We are proud to be among the 25% of companies and projects, which are accepted and invited to the large Springboard session, as CONNECT Denmark see them as companies with elite potential.

I already do know what I need to get feedback on, and it is the issues regarding getting ready for investor round 2, scaling the company, and spotting the right CFO profile, that can assist me creating the right financial information needed to run the company in the right direction, and attract the right kind of investors to support our growth in the time to come.

I must listen to people wiser than me, as this is my first time, creating a company with a global potential, so I am looking forward to the Springboard session, even if they are giving me a hard time, I expect nothing less.
